We spent a few days in the Black Forest last year. We, in this case my gastronomic wine partner Thorsten Rech and some real wine freaks.
Many Furtwangen volunteers from different areas, such as the local volunteer fire brigade and other voluntary organisations, came to Mayschoss to help immediately after the flood. These helpers were tireless, coming back time and again over the past almost two and a half years. As a small thank you, Thorsten and I are presenting selected wines from various winegrowers from the Ahr and the WG Mayschoss-Altenahr eG on two consecutive evenings in the Rössle Keller in Neukirch near Furtwangen.
The beautiful vaulted cellar provides the perfect setting for such wine presentations. The volunteers serve really tasty, authentic Black Forest snack specialities, served on large platters and accompanied by fragrant bread from the local bakery.
To make the long journey really worthwhile, we take the opportunity during the day to visit interesting wineries around Freiburg in Breisgau, the Kaiserstuhl and Tuniberg.
